Board of Directors

SASH has a Board of Directors who offer their time voluntarily to ensure the quality is efficient, appropriate and consistent.

David Battisby

David has served on the board since 2002 and as chair since 2008. Before retiring from practice in 2016 he had been for 13 years the managing partner of a large regional law firm employing over 200 people with a professional management team reporting to him. In that time the firm grew strongly. David holds a host of legal and managerial skills, which are brought to bear within SASH. He continues to work as a part-time judge in the Employment Tribunal.

Shirley

Shirley Castree

Shirley has over 30 years experience in the care and support sector. She has managed teams offering support to vulnerable people including older people, homeless people, people with enduring mental health illness, people with drug issues and people leaving prison.

Shirley has collaborated with colleagues across the County and the Local Authority to offer a seamless cost effective service to vulnerable people regardless of their location and tenure for nearly 20 years.

Rowland Waddington MCMI, ACQI

Rowland is the operations manager of local law firm Lanyon Bowdler. He is an Associate of The Institute of Quality Assurance and a Member of the Chartered Management Institute and qualified to Level 7 in management, and has over 17 years’ experience in the operational side of business, including compliance and health and safety.

Rowland has responsibility for all the business premises and associated facilities; he also forms part of the risk compliance team. With a desire to reduce the carbon footprint of the firm, Rowland leads with all environmental initiatives.

Dave Williams

David has been a SASH board member since January 2020, bringing good local networking and support contacts to the Association along with marketing experience. Shrewsbury born and bred, a Liverpool FC and keen cyclist in his spare time.

Jean Smith

Jean has worked for 24 years in banking, reaching managerial level in both commercial and personal finance and is a qualified Associate of the Institute of Bankers. She also has 17 years experience at managerial level in local government and now is a member of Shropshire County Pensions Committee, representing retired members.  

She has vast experience of finance, budgets and controls together with Human Resources, administration, publicity and problem solving.  

She has been on the board of SASH since 2008.

Andrew Roberts

Andrew’s background is in social work in Manchester and the North West, followed by lecturing and senior management in Further Education in Shropshire. Later, experience in counselling and independent complaints investigation into Children’s Services across several local authorities have added to his record of over 38 years experience in the care sector.
